Baxter Subaru Omaha Clean Energy Practices
We’re proud to have 102 solar panels installed at our facility. These 500-watt solar panels generate about 74,460 kWh annually, saving 116,335 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the air through fossil fuels.
To put it into perspective, this is the equivalent of carbon dioxide emissions from the following:
- 5,938 gallons of gas consumed
- 59,109 pounds of coal burned
- 2,424 propane cylinders used for home BBQs
Recycling at Our Dealership
At first glance, recycling may not seem like it’s that important. Yet, there are countless benefits that come when individuals, businesses and organizations make the effort to recycle. Here are some of the items Baxter Subaru Omaha recycles:
- Cardboard from packaging
- Glasses, cans and plastic bottles
- Car tires
- Motor oil
- Engines, transmissions and all scrap metals
- Car batteries
We also partner with TerraCycle to take the extra step on hard-to-recycle items, such as disposable cups, straws, lids, snack wrappers and coffee creamer capsules.
Eco-Friendly Facility
We’ve also upgraded our building to align with our long-term goals. We’ve reduced our annual paper consumption by over one ton by shifting to digital transactions. We installed LED lights with timers and sensors to avoid wasteful electricity. And our building now includes energy efficient programmable HVAC systems to ensure the most efficient cooling or heating.
What Are the Benefits of Recycling Tires?
When discarded without thought, tires take up significant landfill space. Because we recycle tires at our local dealership, we’re conserving valuable landfill space and saving the area from contamination. As we continue to recycle big and bulky tires, there will be more space for items that cannot be recycled.
What Are the Benefits of Recycling Oil?
Recycling and reusing old motor oil ispreferable to disposal, as it can provide excellent environmental benefits. Recycled motor oil can be re-refined into new oil, processed into fuel oils and used as raw materials for the petroleum industry.
